Meet the Legal Chain Team: Founders and Engineers

Meet the Legal Chain Team

The people building the future of legal technology for individuals, founders, nonprofits, and small businesses.

Quick Answer

Legal Chain is built by a team that combines 16 years of IP litigation practice, two decades of cloud-native financial software architecture, blockchain law certification, and machine learning engineering. The three co-founders bring legal expertise, technical architecture, and product vision that no single discipline alone could produce. The founding engineers bring the execution. Together, they are building the legal infrastructure that 33 million US small businesses and 1.8 million nonprofits have never had access to.

Why the Team Composition Matters

Most legal tech companies are built by either lawyers who learn to code or engineers who learn about law. Legal Chain is built by both.

That distinction matters because integrity-minded verification is not a legal problem or a technical problem. It is both simultaneously. A document needs to be clearly written so both parties understand it, and permanently verifiable so neither can deny what it said. Solving both requires a team that is genuinely fluent in both disciplines.

Furthermore, it needs to scale to individuals and small businesses who cannot afford either discipline. That requires product engineering that makes professional-grade legal tools available at prices that reflect the actual budget of a freelancer, a founder, or a nonprofit program director.

That is what this team was built to do.

The Co-Founders

W
Waleed Hamada
CEO and Co-Founder
Vision and Strategy Legal Access Product Leadership

Waleed founded Legal Chain on an idea that took shape above the streets of Boston in 2012, at an MIT graduation celebration where the gap between legal expertise and legal access became impossible to ignore. He spent years developing the vision before launching Legal Chain: a platform where AI and blockchain work together to make legal protection genuinely accessible to everyone who needs it, not only those who can afford a law firm.

As CEO, Waleed leads Legal Chain’s mission, strategy, and market development. He is the voice behind the clarity-first philosophy that runs through every product decision: a document no one understands cannot protect anyone. His direct experience with the legal protection gap that affects 33 million US small businesses and 1.8 million nonprofits drives every feature Legal Chain ships.

H
Hussien Sleiman
CTO and Co-Founder
Cloud Architecture Blockchain Infrastructure AI Systems UC Irvine MS CS

Hussien holds a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Information Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine, with a focus on Embedded Systems and Algorithms. Before Legal Chain, he served as VP of Software Development at 777 Partners, where he was the lead technical architect on the CashCall and LoanMe cloud-native lending platforms. Nearly two decades of building regulated financial infrastructure is the foundation he brought to Legal Chain.

As CTO, Hussien leads all technical development: the AI contract review and drafting engine, the Trust Layer blockchain anchoring system, the AES-256 encrypted storage infrastructure with immutable audit logs, and the cloud platform that makes Legal Chain reliable at scale. His core belief is that data integrity is an architectural decision made at the start, not a feature patched in later. Legal Chain’s platform reflects that principle in every layer.

Abhi Bapna
CLO and Co-Founder
IP Litigation Patent Law Blockchain Law 16 years practice

Abhi is a registered patent attorney and certified Blockchain and Law Professional with over 16 years of experience in IP law and litigation. He has litigated in federal district courts, state courts, before the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has an electrical and computer engineering background in addition to his legal training, which gives him the technical fluency to evaluate AI and blockchain systems from both legal and engineering perspectives simultaneously.

Among his notable cases, Abhi represented a global enterprise software company in a landmark trade secret misappropriation action. Following a seven-week trial, the jury found the defendant had misappropriated trade secrets and violated the Virginia Computer Crimes Act, awarding over two billion dollars in damages.

As CLO, Abhi provides the legal intelligence that ensures every document Legal Chain generates reflects accurate, current US law. He is the reason Legal Chain’s AI drafts with legal precision rather than legal approximation.

“The combination of a patent litigator, a cloud architect, and a product builder in the founding team is not accidental. You cannot build trustworthy legal AI without all three disciplines at the table from day one. The law has to be right, the system has to be provably correct, and the product has to be something a non-lawyer can actually use.”

The Founding Engineers

Founding engineers at a legal tech company do work that has never existed in quite this form before. They build AI systems that must be legally accurate. They implement blockchain infrastructure that must be permanently reliable. And they design user interfaces for people who are not lawyers and should not need to think like one.

M
Miheer Dharwadkar
Founding Engineer
Lead Software Engineer Virginia Tech CS Product Engineering

Miheer is a Computer Science student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Lead Software Engineer at Legal Chain. He joined Legal Chain with a recognized ability to translate complex technical problems into clear, user-focused solutions. His colleagues describe his capacity to distill complexity into action as instrumental in shaping what the Legal Chain platform has become.

As a founding engineer, Miheer brings both the technical execution and the product sense that early-stage engineering requires. He is not just building features. He is making decisions about what Legal Chain’s architecture should be capable of at scale, while ensuring the current experience works for the individual signing their first contract today.

H
Hammad Qureshi
Founding Engineer
Frontend and Backend Machine Learning Georgia Tech MS CS

Hammad is pursuing his Master’s degree in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology with a specialization in Machine Learning. Before focusing on Legal Chain, his professional experience spanned Android development, software design, and security research, including a role triaging security vulnerability reports for bug bounty programs where his thoroughness and technical judgment were consistently recognized.

At Legal Chain, Hammad contributes to both frontend and backend engineering with a stated focus on building tools that are not only powerful but easy for the people who need them. His machine learning background directly informs how Legal Chain’s AI systems are trained, evaluated, and refined over time. His user-focused engineering philosophy ensures that capability and accessibility advance together.

What This Team Means for the People Legal Chain Serves

Every individual, freelancer, founder, nonprofit, and small business that uses Legal Chain benefits from a founding team that has never separated legal accuracy from technical reliability from user accessibility. Those three requirements are usually addressed sequentially, by different teams, in different funding rounds.

Legal Chain was built with all three at the table from day one.

The result is a platform where a freelancer generating their first NDA gets the same quality of legal intelligence as a company that can afford a law firm. Where a nonprofit reviewing a grant agreement gets the same document integrity as a public company under SOX. Where a founder protecting their IP gets the same kind of thinking a certified patent attorney would apply.

Legal Chain is software, not a law firm. It does not provide legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. For complex legal matters, the attorney review add-on and Global Lawyer Finder connect users with vetted attorneys. Legal Chain currently supports US jurisdictions.

Built by people who understand what legal protection actually requires.

AI drafting, AI review, blockchain integrity, and a team with the credentials to make all three work. Try it free during beta.
